Research is showing that cancer rates are increasing within the younger population of the U.S., specifically in the, “under 50” age group. What could possibly be the cause?
The study used data from the national Cancer Institute Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results Program. Referring to its results, the authors noted, “There is a need to inform health care professionals about the increasing incidence of early-onset cancer, and investigations for possible tumors need to be considered when clinically appropriate, even in patients younger than 50 years.”
Increased breast cancer rates among women have also been identified. Researchers are still unsure what is triggering the results of this alarming disproportionate data.
